Pyongyang, April 29 (KCNA) — The 10th Congress of the Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist Youth League was opened in Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK, on April 27.
The congress is to comprehensively analyze and review in depth the youth league work during the period under review, take practical measures for bringing about a fundamental turn in the youth league work and discuss the tasks and ways for the youth league organizations and young people to thoroughly carry out the decisions made at the 8th Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and the 2nd Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK.
It was announced at the congress that the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was presented with silk banners by the Central Standing Committee of the Korean Youth League in Japan and the Association of Young Korean Nationals in China on the occasion of the 10th Congress of the Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist Youth League.

Review of the work of the Central Inspection Commission of the Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist Youth League
On renaming the youth league
On revising the rules of the youth league
Election of the central leadership organ of the youth league
Pak Chol Min, chairman of the Central Committee of the youth league, made a report on the first agenda item.
The reporter said that the congress is convened amid the great trust of Kim Jong Un who sets the youth work as the important work concerning the future of the Party, state and our-style socialism and the eternal strategic line of revolution.
He noted that for the past five years since the end of the 9th Congress of the youth league, the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un has energetically led the youth league to develop it into the eternal youth league of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, as required by the new era of the Juche revolution, and to make sure that it demonstrates its might as the advancing group and wing of the Party.
He said that the achievements made in the youth league work are entirely the bright fruition of the great leadership provided by the General Secretary who set the youth issue as a vital issue decisive of the destinies of the Party and the revolution and put his heart and soul into leading the youth league work step by step.
He emphasized that the youth league faces the honorable task to fully demonstrate its militant power as the successors and reserves of the WPK in the all-out advance for carrying out the great fighting programme set forth at the 8th Congress of the WPK and at the 2nd Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK.
He seriously analyzed and reviewed in detail the mistakes youth league organizations made by failing to push forward with the work of increasing their militant might in every way as required by their duty as organizations for ideological education in the period under review. He called for taking substantial measures to set right the mistakes latent in the youth league work in order to ensure that the league creditably fulfills its mission and duty for the times and the revolution.
He called on the youth league organizations at all levels to hold fast to the important tasks set forth by the General Secretary at the 8th Congress of the WPK as immortal guidelines for effecting a fundamental turn in the youth league work and to go all out for implementing them.
He said that they should eternally hold President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il in high esteem as the sun of Juche and place above all and perfectly carry on the work of devotedly defending the absolute authority of the Party Central Committee.
He emphasized the need to channel great efforts into building up the primary organizations of the youth league to be robust ones and steadily enhancing their function and role.
He stressed the need for the organizations of the youth league to fully prepare the schoolchildren to be competent revolutionary talents and young revolutionaries, qualified intellectually, morally and physically, who will successfully carry forward the baton of the Juche revolution.
He urged the officials of the youth league to become the locomotives leading the young people to always advance straight ahead following the Party as the reliable successors to the revolution, bearing deep in mind that whether or not the youth work is successfully carried out depends entirely on them.
He said that the youth league organizations should wage a revolutionary ideological offensive, offensive defense and intensive struggle to root out the anti- and non-socialist practices and establish the socialist lifestyle.
He stressed the need for the youth league organizations to inspire the youth to creating new standards and records and renewing them in the struggle for carrying out the new 5-year plan.
He ardently appealed to all the young people to dynamically struggle for achieving a new victory of the socialist cause and the revolutionary cause of Juche, saying that only victory and glory are in store for the youth league and the youth led by Kim Jong Un.
Speeches were made on the first agenda item.
Speakers were Kim Chung Song, a delegate from the youth league organizations of the Korean People’s Army, Pak Myong Jin and Paek Hak Ryong, delegates from the youth league organizations of Pyongyang City, and Han In Chol, a delegate from the youth league organizations of the High-Speed Youth Shock Brigade.
Present at the congress were the delegates elected by the youth league organizations at all levels.
Also present there as observers were officials of the Party and armed forces organs and officials in the field of education of young people and schoolchildren.
Taking the platform were Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, Kim Jae Ryong, department director of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Kwon Yong Jin, director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People’s Army, who are members of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, officials of the executive committee of the Central Committee of the youth league, chairpersons of the provincial youth league committees, exemplary officials and members of the youth league, officials in charge of the youth work in the armed forces organs and soldiers.
