Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un Has Talks with President Xi Jinping

Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) — Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea and chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, had talks with Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and president of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), on Thursday afternoon.

The Supreme Leader of the Party, state and armed forces Kim Jong Un and his wife Ri Sol Ju visited the Kumsusan State Guest House. They exchanged warm greetings and had a pleasant chat with Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan in a family atmosphere before having a photo taken against the background of the national flags of the two countries.

Then, the talks were held between the top leaders of the two countries.

Present at the talks from the DPRK side were Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, first vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly, Kim Jae Ryong, member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., WPK, member of the SAC of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, Ri Yong Ho, member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., WPK, member of the SAC of the DPRK and foreign minister, Ri Su Yong, member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., WPK, member of the SAC of the DPRK and vice-chairman of the C.C., WPK, and Kim Su Kil, member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., WPK, member of the SAC of the DPRK and director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People’s Army.

Present there from the Chinese side were Ding Xuexiang, member of the Political Bureau, member of the Secretariat and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, Yang Jiechi, member of the Political Bureau and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, Wang Yi, state councilor and foreign minister of the People’s Republic of China, He Lifeng, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and head of the National Development and Reform Committee, Song Tao, head of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, Zhong Shan, minister of Commerce of the PRC, and Miao Hua, director of the political affairs department of the Central Military Commission of the PRC.

Warmly welcoming Xi Jinping’s visit to the DPRK this year that marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and China, Kim Jong Un highly appreciated that his visit comes to be a decisive occasion to demonstrate the immutability and invincibility of the DPRK-China friendship before the world and is of great significance in further consolidating the friendly relations between the two countries that greeted a new age of vitality.

Xi Jinping said that he was very pleased to meet Kim Jong Un again, and expressed his thanks to the leading officials of the Party and the government of the DPRK and leading officials of the armed forces organs and citizens in Pyongyang for warmly greeting and welcoming him.

Kim Jong Un and Xi Jinping informed each other of the situations of their countries and successes gained by the two parties and peoples of the two countries in their struggle for advancing the cause of socialist construction, and extended their full support and solidarity to them.

Stressing that it is the consistent stand of the parties and the governments of the two countries to steadily and energetically develop the traditional DPRK-China friendly and cooperative relations as required by the times and it fully conforms with the aspiration, desire and basic interests of the peoples of the two countries, they proposed brilliant plans for greeting the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and China with more significance and exchanged their views on them.

Both sides agreed on making positive joint efforts to promote close strategic communication between the two parties and the two countries, deepen mutual understanding and trust, maintain the tradition of high-level visit and strengthen exchange and cooperation in every field.

The top leaders of the two countries exchanged extensive views on important international and regional matters including the situation of the Korean peninsula, and appreciated that to further develop in depth the relations between the two parties and the two countries conforms with the common interests of the two countries and favors the regional peace, stability and development now that serious and complicated changes are happening in international and regional situations.

The talks proceeded in a comradely, sincere and candid atmosphere and brought about common understanding of discussed issues. -0-
