Report of 24th KFA UK Film Night 19.01.2025’

 

 

The Korean Friendship Association of the UK (KFA UK ) held its 24th Film Night on the 19.02.2025 at 1900 hours GMT . Parts One and Two of the famous multi-part DPRK espionage thriller “Unsung Heroes “ was shown . Participating in the film night were members of KFA UK from different parts of the UK and international guests from KFA Andalusia (Spain), KFA Bulgaria , KFA Germany , Denmark ,Myanmar , Turkey and USA .

 

The film depicts the work and struggle of DPRK intelligence agents behind enemy lines during the Fatherland Liberation War(Korean War) against the US imperialists in the 1950s .The central character is Yu Rim , a journalist educated in Britain , played by veteran DPRK film actor Kim Ryong Rin. Yu Rim is in reality an intelligence agent of the DPRK working under cover as a reporter . 

 

In the film we see the contradictions of the south Korean puppet fascist ruling system exposed as different factions scramble for power and plot coups d etat (something that continues today .) Also the contradictions between US imperialism and British imperialism are apparent . We also learnt of the secret participation of Japan in the Korean  War.

 

Participants said that it the film was a fine example of DPRK revolutionary cinema.
