Some of our friends have asked us to refute the allegations being made against People’s Korea in regard to crypto -currency .
Recently the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI ) accused (with no evidence ) the DPRK or what they termed “north Korean hackers ” of stealing $1.5 billion in crypto -currency . The FBI does not actually name any suspects only different hacker groups which are supposedly affiliated with the DPRK ,although this is not explained how.
The mainstream media are claiming that the DPRK is using stolen crypto currency to evade sanctions and to ” fund the military ” . This is nonsense . Even if the DPRK did acquire a big amount of crypto -currency somehow it would then have to convert the crypto currency into real money and this would be impossible because of the sanctions against the DPRK and the fact that the DPRK is shut out of the banking system .Anyway in many countries such as the UK crypto currency is very difficult to convert into real money .
The DPRK is building new homes , factories and hospitals without crypto-currency and the military in the DPRK is funded through domestic resources . The secret weapon of People’s Korea is SELF-RELIANCE not crypto currency
