Pyongyang, December 14 (KCNA) — A central meeting was held at the palace of the revolution in Havana, capital of Cuba, on Dec. 11 to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Republic of Cuba.
Present there were Raul Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez, president of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Antonio Valdes Mesa, vice-president of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernandez, president of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba, Manuel Marrero Cruz, president of the Council of Ministers, and other senior party and government officials, Ma Chol Su, DPRK ambassador to Cuba, and staff members of his embassy.
Prior to the meeting, Ma Chol Su courteously conveyed the warm greetings from Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un to First Secretary Raul Castro Ruz and President Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez.
Raul Castro Ruz expressed deep thanks for it and asked the ambassador to convey his greetings to Kim Jong Un.
Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez expressed his gratitude for it and asked the ambassador to convey his best regards to Kim Jong Un.
Ma Chol Su and Salvador Antonio Valdes Mesa made speeches at the meeting which began with the playing of the national anthems of the two countries.
Speakers stressed that the two countries have consolidated friendship by repelling all challenges and ordeals of history and supporting and cooperating with each other for the past 60 years, referring to the historic significance of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Saying that the relations of friendship and cooperation provided by the preceding leaders of the two countries are now developing onto a new high stage amid the deep interest of Kim Jong Un and Raul Castro Ruz and Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez, they expressed the will to further boost solidarity in a joint struggle for independence and socialism against imperialism.
