Pyongyang, April 29 (KCNA) — The spirit of self-reliance, created in the period of anti-Japanese revolutionary war, played a big role in bringing about a great victory in the 1950-1953 Fatherland Liberation War.

On June 25, Juche 39 (1950) when the destiny of the country and nation faced a stern trial, President Kim Il Sung convened an extraordinary Cabinet meeting and issued an order to repulse the attack of armed invaders and annihilate those invaders through a prompt and decisive counteroffensive.

In his radio address “Go All Out for Victory in the War” the next day, he called on all the Korean people to defend the Republic by their own strength and inspired them with confidence that the just struggle for the country and the people is sure to emerge victorious.

The Korean people, who had led a genuine life for independent human beings in the country liberated by the President for five years, turned out in the scared war for defending their home of happiness from the aggressors.

The courage and pluck of the illustrious commander of Mt Paektu hardened the Korean People’s Army soldiers’ confidence in sure victory that if they fight on their own strength, they can defeat any formidable enemy, thus making it possible for them to win shining victories in the battles of war from its early days.

Thanks to his outstanding military strategies unprecedented in the world history of wars, the KPA performed such heroic feats as the victory in the Taejon liberation operation, an example of modern-day siege warfare, sending the enemy’s heavy cruiser Baltimore to the bottom of sea with only four torpedo-boats and the victory in the Kum River-crossing battle to break the enemy’s “line of no retreat”.

The Fatherland Liberation War clearly showed the world how strong the people loving their own things and depending on their own efforts are. –
