Recently , the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office of the UK ( which used to be the FCO in the past but they merged it with another department to save money) carried a report about ‘human rights ‘ , listing the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea as a ‘country of concern ‘.
Firstly , KFA UK strongly rejects this slanderous characterization of People’s Korea of Juche as a ‘country of concern ‘ or a ‘human rights violator ‘.
Secondly , this is an example of Britain trying to impose its views and values on the DPRK . It is basically telling the DPRK what to do , it is a violation of the sovereignty of the DPRK and of the principle of non-interference . Britain should recognise that the days of empires are gone forever . It should also be pointed out that the FCDO report coincides with the planned visit of a British aircraft carrier strike group to south Korea .
Moreover , Britain should put its own house in order before it criticises other countries and tries to tell them what to do ,It should address human rights issues within Britain before looking at other countries,
Thirdly , explicitly speaking there are no human rights violations in the DPRk . Religion is not suppressed in the DPRK ; there are Catholic , Protestant and Russian Orthodox churches as well Buddhist temples and the Korean religion of Chondo-ism is practised . Last year a general amnesty was granted to all those convicted of crimes against the country . The people of the DPRK enjoy the right to housing , to education , to free medical care , to work and even have holidays paid for at state expense !.
Britain should stop trying to pull down the socialist system in the DPRK and instead develop friendly relations based on independence and mutual benefit.
