Report of UK KFA PIcket of the FCO against the unjust British sanctions on People’s Korea

On Saturday 26th of September the UK Korean Friendship Asssociation picketed the Foreign and Commonwealth Office(FCO) to demand an end to the British sanctions against People’s Korea imposed in July this year in addition to the sanctions imposed on the DPRK by the UN Security Council , US , EU , Japan and south Korea which make the DPRK the most sanctioned country on the planet .

Things were initially a bit chaotic and fraught at the start as the police had blocked off King Charles Street where the FCO is located  . We had informed the police in plenty of time before the picket that we intended to mount a static protest outside the FCO although we were given a reference number no one from the police contacted us prior to picket so we had idea that we could not access King Charles Street to protest directly opposite the FCO . However after short negotiations with the police the picket went ahead on the corner of King Charles Street and Whitehall .

The picket was attended by members of UK KFA , Andy Brooks general secretary of the New Communist Party and a Central Committee member of the New Communist Party plus  a member of UNITE the Union .

Dr Dermot Hudson was interviewed at the picket at length by a journalist . In the interview Dr Hudson explained why they were picketing and denounced the unjust sanctions imposed by the British government . He also defended the human rights record of People’s Korea against false accusations.

The KFA UK banner and DPRK flag were displayed along with placards calling for an end to British sanctions against the DPRK . Leaflets supporting the DPRK were handed out to passers by .
