Local elections have just taken place in People’s Korea yesterday (21st of July) . The people of the DPRK elected new deputies to provincial (municipal), city (district) and county people’s assemblies which will democratically run local government in the DPRK.
99.98 per cent of electors voted . Compare to this to the average turnout of 35 per cent in local elections for England in 2018 .
People in the DPRK vote in elections because they have a genuine stake in society , they are exercising people’s power rather deciding on which incompetent is going to put up council tax . In the DPRK deputies to local people’s assemblies are not just representatives of the people , they are servants of the people.
